ASSESSMENTS
Answers that help you
move forward
A psychological assessment is more than a label — it's a structured process that helps you, your child, or someone you care for understand what's actually going on, and what to do next. I offer assessments for both children (ages three +) and adults in both Calgary and Red Deer.
Assessments Offered-
For children, adolescents, and adults experiencing challenges with attention, restlessness, impulsivity, organization, or daily functioning.
-
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a form of neurodivergence that affects communication, social interaction, behaviour and sensory processing. We offer comprehensive, neurodiversity-affirming evaluations that utilize gold-standard tools.
-
Explores how someone learns, thinks, and feels. This assessment identifies learning disabilities while also considering cognitive functioning and social-emotional wellbeing — recognizing that these areas interact and together influence how a person shows up in school, work, and daily life.
-
For individuals showing advanced reasoning, learning, or problem-solving abilities.
-
Includes cognitive and academic testing to provide documentation that supports college, university, or training program planning and accommodations.
-
Evaluations to support cognitive and adaptive functioning along with funding applications for ‘Persons with Developmental Disabilities’ (PDD) and ‘Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped’ (AISH) programs.
How the Assessment
Process Works
Step 1: Intake Meeting (1.5 hours)
We begin with a 1.5‑hour intake to discuss referral concerns, history, current functioning, and social‑emotional wellbeing. This conversation clarifies your goals and guides the rest of the assessment.
Step 2: Direct Testing (1 - 3 sessions)
Testing usually happens over one to three appointments. I use standardized tools to assess cognition, learning, attention, executive skills, and social‑emotional or behavioural functioning, as needed.
Step 3: Data Collection
Alongside testing, I gather collateral information from parents, teachers, physicians, and other providers, and review relevant records and questionnaires. This helps create a fuller picture of day‑to‑day functioning.
Step 4: Report Preparation
I integrate all results into a comprehensive written report that summarizes findings, diagnostic impressions (when appropriate), and clear, individualized recommendations for support and accommodations.
Step 5: Feedback Session (1 hour)
The process closes with a 1-hour feedback session. We review the results together, talk through diagnostic impressions and recommendations, answer your questions, and map out next steps and supports.
Fees
Assessment fees vary based on the type and complexity of the evaluation. The right path is usually clearest after an initial consultation, where we can talk through what you're looking for and what would actually be useful. I work collaboratively with insurance providers wherever possible, and direct billing is available for select plans.
Not sure which assessment
is right for you?
That's exactly what the free consult is for. We'll talk about what you're noticing, and I'll point you toward the right next step — whether that's an assessment with me or a different kind of support.
